Body Assessment #8: Jeri

August 18, 2008 by Valerie Waters

My name is Jeri age 47

My goal is to lose the pouchy pooh that I have develped in my abdominal area. Its very bothersome to me.

My eating consists of Nutrisystem, but frankly am getting tired of the food, so I am going to try another route with that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As for my exercise, nothing since May 2008. Prior to this I had a personal trainer from Jan to April 2008 and did see a huge difference in my body. I have feel that I have stayed the same by controlling my eating, but know that I need to get back on the band wagon and workout. I just am not motivated to workout.

If you can help me in any of these areas, that would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to me and to look at my pictures to see what can be accomplished for my pouchy pooh.

Jeri

Jeri, this whole diet/workout thing is such a ‘head’ game. Val’s right–just get it in your head that you are going to do this and you will. I did the same thing a few years back–the day I started with my trainer (guru Ryan here), was the day I started eating clean and the rest is history. Have confidence in yourself, you can do this! Good Luck!

    HI Jeri,

RCR is very do-able and the kitchen clean and just deciding to do it really helps….then if you blow it , it doesn’t have to mean the whole day, just say, well, I blew it for this hour, but I have 23 more hours to make it good!

We’re all here to support each other….

    Hi Jeri,

Michelle and Linda are spot on. One meal does not derail the whole program however, I find in the beginning it is better to go through the whole process of kitchen cleanse and re-stock. It is a psychology experiment as much as anything. The act of throwing out bad stuff is so incredibly liberating and then you take control. The decision of, this is what I do now, changes you. RCR is a eating plan you can follow for life. Even though I call it a 6 week plan, it is meant to change your habits. We are all cheering you on!!! You can do this!!

    Jeri~
    You can do this..

With RCR there are so many options. You are never starvingg because you are never depriving yourself. You are just ifnding a new way to recreate you and that recreating you may take some adjustments, but those adjustments won’t leave you feeling like other Famous diets.. Die tbeing the key word… RCR is a life change… So be ready to commit and I we will be ready to cheer you on..

Well, I know what I needed to do before getting the body assessment. I really just needed to hear it from other people. I have started to keep a journal for exercise and nutrition. I am now on day 14 of walking 2.5 miles daily on a mixture of gravel, sand, and blacktop with a few inclines. Today I switched up my walk and started on the treadmill doing intervals for 15 minutes. So my new goal is to switch between the two for my cardio. I also started doing strength training today. It went very slowly, but progress is in the future for me. I did some “Y’s/T’s”, plank, pushups, lunges, squats, and the thing with the band on ankles. I only lasted 15 minutes with this but it is my start. The nutrituion I have changed a few things with that also, since I am getting tired of the NutriSystem foods. I will gradually change out each meal for homemade meal. I started with breakfast and will do that for 1-2 wks before changing out another meal.
If anyone has any other suggestions for me, please forward them to me.
Thank you everyone for being such a great motivator!!

Great start Jeri.. I have a ton of great home cooked meals.. And if you are short on time like we all are there are some great rec. for the crock pot.. I bought a small one that I couls use and keep my portions smaller as I found it hard to scale back using a HUGE crock pot!!
    Great job

    Wow Jeri, your really motivated,congratulations!
I know how it feels to switch from eating “prepared” diet foods. I was on doctor prescribed shake and bar meal replacements, Ialthough they worked, I knew I could not eat like that forever. Switching back to “real food” was almost scary! You seem to have the right idea, taking it slow, planning meals, and not being afraid to try some new things really helps. I agree, if you need any ideas or recipes, you have definately come to the right place :-)
    Good luck
    Sonia
